Following and unfollowing

Following accounts is a simple way to curate your Vylo feed and stay up to date on newsstand responses of the subjects or individuals you're interested in. There are technical restrictions on how many Vylo accounts you may follow to avoid spam and manipulation of follow connections, as well as to maintain site reliability. These restrictions are determined by the rate at which you follow new accounts as well as the number of followers you have. Furthermore, because follow relationships on Vylo aren't always reciprocated, we've implemented a few guidelines for follow behavior to encourage honest interactions.

What are the technical follow limits?
  • We don't limit the amount of accounts you can follow in total, however there are certain restrictions on how quickly you may do so.
  • Every Vylo account can follow up to 400 people each day. Vylo verified accounts can follow up to 1,000 users each day.
  • Aside from the daily limitations, there are follow ratios that apply if you follow a certain amount of accounts:
  • Each Vylo account can follow up to 5,000 people. Once you've reached that threshold, you may need to wait until your account gets more followers before following other accounts.
  • This figure is unique to each account and is determined automatically based on your unique follower-to-following ratio.

Are there any more guidelines for following behavior?

Yes. The Vylo Rules prohibit abusive following, and breaking these rules may result in your account being suspended. The regulations specifically prohibit:

  • "follow churn" is the practice of following and then unfollowing a significant number of accounts in order to increase one's own follower count.
  • Following and/or unfollowing a high number of unrelated accounts in a short period of time, especially using automation;
  • replicating another account's followers, especially using automation;
  • and utilizing or promoting third-party services or applications that claim to gain followers.

What if "you are unable to follow more people at this time?"

You may encounter a message that states, “You are unable to follow more people at this time.” You’ll encounter this message for one of the following reasons:

  • You’ve reached the daily follow limit. You can follow more accounts after a day has passed.
  • You've followed too many accounts too quickly. Try again in an hour or so.
  • You’ve hit a follow ratio limit. You can try again once your account has more followers, or you can unfollow a few accounts to follow new ones.
  • Your account is locked or limited. We may lock an account if appears to be compromised or if it is in violation of the Vylo Rules or Terms of Service , including due to aggressive follow behavior. Accounts in a locked state are limited in actions they can perform, including the following.

If you still have any questions or have faced any problems with following or unfollowing other Vylo users, please reach out to the Vylo support team by sending an email to support@vylo.com.
